Ontario Snowmobile Trails Map

Last Updated: 1/11/07

My maps, data exchange, guide and forum are free and will continue to be free, so use them and enjoy. However, making and maintaining the maps, helping people install them, and keeping this website running takes a large amount of time and costs some money, so if you find this site to be useful, please consider making a donation.

This map was made using data contributed by Reved, Kris Roenigk, and Michael Autore. It covers a fair amount, but not all, of Ontario. The data I used for the lakes and roads isn't great, but it's better than nothing. The low detail of it, however, makes for a smaller file which will use less of your map memory.

Two versions for each GPS brand are available. One has lakes, rivers, and roads in addition to the trails, and the other is a map of the trails. The trails only Garmin version is transparent and can be put on top of other Garmin maps, such as USA Topo or City Select. The Magellan and Lowrance trails only versions cannot do this.

Note: Please do not contact Garmin, Lowrance, or Magellan if you have problems with these maps. Look around on this site for a solution to your problem, post in the forum, or contact me. These are unofficial maps and have nothing to do with Garmin, Lowrance, or Magellan.

You can download the map in two ways: an installer for Mapsource, and the individual map sections. If you don't have Garmin's Mapsource software, you'll need to download the individual sections and transfer them to your GPS using SendMap or MapUpload (see below).

As much as I'd like to cover more trails, I can only ride so many miles each Winter, so to make this map more complete, I need your help. If this map is useful to you, then it means you have a GPS, and if you have a GPS, then you too can collect tracklogs! Just set it to record a tracklog (one track point every 2 or 3 seconds is good) and bring it along each time you ride - it's as simple as that. If you can, mark shelters, hazzards, gas stations, etc. When you get back, transfer your data to your computer (via Mapsource or some other method), and upload it here. All useful data will be added to the next version of the map. Spread the word!
