Snowmobile Trails GPS Maps

For the first time, these maps are available for Garmin, Magellan, and Lowrance units!

These are real GPS background maps, not just tracks and waypoints.

The Garmin maps can be installed right into Mapsource like any of Garmin's products, such as City Navigator or Topo. If you don't have Mapsource, you can still upload the maps to your GPSr with third party software. Instructions are on the individual map pages. The Garmin maps come in a full version which contains lakes, rivers, roads, and cities, and also a transparent version with only trails that can be drawn over other maps loaded onto the GPSr, such as Mapsource Topo. During installation, you can select the stock map or several custom colors for the trails. The Garmin versions are generally the highest quality and easiest to use.

The Magellan maps are loaded onto the GPSr manually. Instructions can be found on the individual map pages. These maps are also available in a complete form with lakes, rivers, and roads, and a trails only version, but unfortunately the trails only versions are not transparent like it is for Garmin GPSrs.

The Lowrance versions, like the Magellan versions, cannot be overlayed onto other maps, so the complete version (with lakes, rivers, and roads) will be more useful for most users.

All of these maps are possible due to the hard work of various developers who have spent many hours making software to allow people to make maps. Big thanks to them for all their hard work.

I'll be putting together a guide on how to make Magellan and Lowrance maps soon. Check back.

These maps contain data that other people have contributed at the GPS Data Exchange. If you have tracklog data that you've collected, please upload it there.
