More and more snowmobilers are riding with GPS receivers, and it makes sense. Getting lost on a trail is an annoyance at best, and very dangerous at worst. Paper maps are great, but it's often hard to tell where you are. With GPSSledMaps.com GPS maps, you can see exactly where you are, where other trails, shelters, gas stations, and restaurants are in relation to you, and you can see where you've been. Commercial map software has very little snowmobile trail coverage, but our maps are made just for snowmobilers. They can be loaded onto many models of Garmin, Magellan, and Lowrance GPSrs just like commercial map products such as Topo 2008 and City Navigator. We also have the original snowmobile map making guide that started it all, plus a forum to discuss map making and using a GPSr on a snowmobile. Anyone interested in getting into the GPS world or making their own maps can learn how to do it. Some comments from happy users:
If you have a GPS and use it for snowmobiling, set it to record your tracks and upload it to the GPS Data Exchange. It'll automatically be added to the growing database of track and waypoint data for other GPS-using snowmobilers to download. Stop by and see if there's data for your area. Spread the word! The more people that record tracklogs and waypoints and contribute them, the better this site will be. If you have a GPS and you're going for a ride, why not record it? Just turn it on and hit the gas!
